Upper Air Monitoring Systems (Radiosondes)

Coastal Environmental Systems, the leading manufacturer of Portable Hazmat Weather Stations and Permanent Surface Weather Stations, has partnered with MODEM to distribute MODEM's Upper Air Monitoring and Meteorological Observing Systems (Radiosondes).

The partnership will enable Coastal to provide a greater depth of services to our customers. As the leader for many years in the surface weather station market, our customers rely on us for rugged, accurate, and at times, rapidly deployable weather stations (for aviation, agriculture, hazmat, CBRNE incident response, scientific research, and other applications). By partnering with MODEM, Coastal is now able to complete the picture and offer the world's most advanced Upper Air Measurement System (Radiosondes) as well.

Radiosonde System

The SR2K2 Radiosonde System

The SR2K2 Upper Air Monitoring/Observing System measures temperature, pressure, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. The monitoring system includes radiosondes, a ground station, a ground-check / initialization station, GPS, a personal computer and software to calibrate, track, report and replay information from the radiosondes. The SR2K2 offers a unique combination of features including: an advanced differential GPS system that can selectively receive data from up to 12 satellites; a ground-check system that does not require the user to remove sensors from the radiosonde for initialization; a GPS repeater antenna on the ground-check station that enables users to initialize the radiosonde without going outdoors, and much more.

SR2K2 customers include NASA, Meteo France, Howard University, CNES Space Research Center, and the armed forces of France, Morocco, and Norway.
