Coastal's 10 Meter PSD Tower System is Designed in Accordance with the On-Site Meteorological Program Guidance (EPA-450/4-87-013) and Ambient Monitoring Guidelines for PSD (EPA-450/4-87-007).

10 Meter PSD Tower System

The PSD weather station employs the ZENO® 3200 datalogger/data acquisition system, allowing it to function as a stand-alone data collection platform, or when integrated with one of our many telemetry options, to deliver data right to your desk using our WINDOWS point and click program, INTERCEPT®.

The PSD Tower System measures wind speed and direction, air temperature at 2 and 10 meter heights, and the amount of incoming solar radiation. This allows users to be compliant with both the sigma theta and the SRDT methods of stability computation. Once these values are measured, a series of calculations are completed in the ZENO® to determine: the average values for all the measured parameters(15 minute intervals), the sigma theta and the delta T. A variety of weather sensors are often added to a PSD weather station and may include: relative humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall and others.

Only the sophistication of the ZENO® allows you to actually receive these two sets of data: (1) The standard 15-minute averages required under PSD and (2) a 30-second update of a running 5 minute average. The second of these measurements means that you will get data every 30 seconds – either at the display or on your PC. This data can be used with off-the-shelf emergency response plume models (ALOHA®, EIS, CHARM, SAFER, etc.) or to aid in other weather sensitive operations.

Standard Sensors:

A PSD weather station can be ordered with just wind speed direction and temperature. However, sensor suites depend on your application and the height of the tower required by your state. A typical PSD weather station includes: wind speed and direction (gust and standard deviation—sigma theta—are calculated), air temperature (at 2 and 10-meter levels with motor aspirated shields), relative humidity, barometric pressure, solar radiation, and rainfall. Sensor Specifications

Power:

Most PSD weather stations require 110 or 220 AC. In some special instances solar or battery power can be supplied.

Displays:

A variety of displays is available depending on the application and location.

Towers:

A 10-meter tower is the most common, however your requirements may call for a taller tower.

User Interface/Display Software:

Software to download data is available free with the PSD station.
