FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 15, 2010: NAV CANADA commissioned Coastal Environmental Systems to manufacture and install a network of Aviation Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) at airfields all over Canada. Since the deployment project began, Coastal and NAV CANADA have installed stations at more than 20 locations, in 9 different provinces across Canada, with 8 more systems scheduled to be deployed this year. This network of sophisticated monitoring stations will help improve Canada's civil aviation operations and safety.
As a world leader in enabling safe, efficient air travel, NAV CANADA holds its suppliers to exacting standards. In a recent performance review, Coastal earned high scores in all evaluation categories. According to the NAV CANADA evaluation team, "(Coastal's) Engineering team has an excellent design capability"; "Products use state of the art technology [that] still meet NAV CANADA requirements and function in remote and harsh environments"; and "Products exceed the industry standard in aviation weather observing systems."
Coastal CEO Don Munro responded to this review by saying, "Coastal enjoyed working closely with NAV CANADA over the years and has great appreciation for the collaboration and continuous improvements made during this project. We are honored to receive such high customer satisfaction marks from them."
