Forestry Weather Stations
ZENO® Forestry Weather Station
The ZENO® Forestry weather station is the most sophisticated professional weather station available for foresters and forestry fire fighters in the world today. The ZENO® features ZENOSOFT® embedded firmware which is easy to set-up, simple to operate, and requires only point and click software to download data, change sample rates, etc.
The ZENO® Forestry weather station is specifically designed to measure those data parameters most important to foresters and forestry fire fighters. It is capable of sending data over telephone, radio, or satellite and feeding data directly into Coastal's INTERCEPT® software, or into specialized software designed by and used in the Forestry industry.
The ZENO® weather station is delivered with a standard suite of weather sensors but is also capable of reading and processing the data from almost any sensor (analog, digital or serial "smart" sensors). It can check and act on alarms (call out an alarm or trigger a relay for sound alarms, lights, or bells) and perform self-tests on sensors.
The ZENO® can execute some actions: opening/closing valves, turning on/off pumps etc. It will interface with almost any type of telemetry including: direct cable, off-the-shelf phone modem, leased line modem, short haul modem, one-way radio, two-way radio, satellite and cell phonethe ultimate in flexibility.
The ZENO® weather station is available with memory ranging from 16Kb to 20Mb.
WEATHERPAK® Wildfire Weather Station
The WEATHERPAK® Wildfire weather station is a complete self contained one piece wireless weather station. Its unique design makes it the most advanced, easy-to-use professional weather station for foresters and forestry fire fighters on the market today. The WEATHERPAK® Wildfire is a single-piece instrument that installs in seconds. Because it can self-align to true north via a built-in fluxgate (no moving parts) compass, directional alignment setup, necessary with other weather stations, is eliminated. This makes the WEATHERPAK® ideal for portable use in forestry applications.
The WEATHERPAK® Wildfire is built around a full 32-bit microcontroller and can contain up to 1 full megabyte of SRAM memory. A real-time clock and hardware watchdog timer combined with double o-ring seals and the anti-corrosive design ensures dependable data, on schedule, in any environment.
Many customers use the WEATHERPAK® Wildfire for the portability it offers, but it is also used in permanent or semi-permanent installations.
Standard ZENO® sensors depend on your application, but typically include wind speed and direction (gust and standard deviation sigma theta are calculated), air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall, and solar radiation.
A WEATHERPAK® can be ordered with just wind speed and direction, however, the exact sensor suite depends on your application. A typical WEATHERPAK® may include wind speed and direction (gust and standard deviation sigma theta are calculated), air temperature, relative humidity and barometric pressure.
Additional possibilities for either system include soil moisture, soil temperature, evaporation, leaf wetness, visibility, cloud height (ceilometer), present weather, surface ice, water temperature, water level, water quality, azimuth, GPS, and more. WEATHERPAK®s also may include solar radiation, rainfall and a compass. Please contact us for a complete listing. (Sensor Specifications)
The ZENO® and WEATHERPAK® weather stations can run on AC (110 or 220), solar panel and/or batteries.
A variety of displays is available depending on the application and location.
A large number of towers are available ranging from a 3 meter portable tower to 300 feet or higher towers.
User Interface/Display Software:
Software to download data is available free with the ZENO® and WEATHERPAK® weather stations.
Coastal also makes pc-based INTERCEPT® software, which is available for purchase, to collect, display, archive and share data.
